Helping Your Student Choose the Right College and Succeed Once They Get There

Tailored Path College Coaching was founded to help both students and their parents with finding the right college, making a successful transition to college from high school. Many students and parents spend countless hours sifting through websites, and listening to advice from peers, often leaving them with more questions than answers, questions like:

• How many schools should my student apply to?
• How does financial aid work?
• How should they approach their essay?
• Once they receive their admissions letters, how can I help them make the final choice? or,
• My student is in college and is struggling. How can I get them help?

That’s where Tailored Path comes in. we offer services—tailored to your individual student—to help them shine as admissions candidates, write extraordinary essays, and choose a college where they will thrive. And once they’re in college, we  give them and their parents the tools to support them and help them to graduate on time.

 

Specific services we offer include:

• Consulting on the college search process;
• Admissions essay review and critique;
• Guidance on making the most of campus visits;
• How to tackle the financial aid process;
• Making a successful transition to college.

And while each of these services can be stand alone, Tailored Path combines them into our flagship service, with six-month contracts covering every aspect of the college search and college success processes, depending on where your student is at the time.

Families choosing the flagship service receive copies of three publications: Choosing the Right College for Your Student, 21 Things Parents Wish They Knew Before their Student Went Off to College and our bestselling publication: Parenting a College Student. These publications serve as supplemental materials to our face-to-face coaching sessions.

Why Tailored Path?

F. J. Talley is an educator whose career has spanned four decades.  Through the years he has served as a Dean of Students, Associate Provost, and Vice President, in addition to being a small college President. He has worked at institutions in six states, and in both public and independent institutions. While his career began in Student Affairs, he has also taught undergraduate Psychology courses at two schools, and graduate courses in Student Personnel and Higher Education at Rowan University.

He served for eight years as director of a scholars program at an honors college, and his underrepresented students boast a four-year graduation rate of 71%–higher than the graduation rate of other students at his college, and higher than the four-year graduation rates at all but 10 public colleges in the United States. His goal through CollegeandParents.com and Tailored Path is to help students find the right college and succeed once they get there, and to empower parents to be the best supports they can be to their students in college.
